The Tactic

This framework is based on the idea that having a specific purpose (or job to be done) for each piece of content makes it easier to create them.

The main reason is that you are not starting from a blank page. This “job to be done” helps guide your content.

These are some of the “jobs to be done”:

  • Entertain

  • EducateInspire

  • Empathize

  • Promote

Originally stolen from Jeremy Enns, who replied to one of my tweets, in which I asked if creating content was useful or a distraction:

🕵️‍♂️ How to Steal it?

1) Define what are the “Jobs to be done” by your content based on your strategy

2) Every time you write a new piece, pick one (and only one) and let it guide your content

This is the formula

Core topic + Job to be done = new idea

Examples

Marketing for startups + Inspire = How X company got its first 100 users

Copywriting + Ecuate = 3 copywriting rules for LinkedIn

And so on!
