Asking questions on social media is one of the easiest ways to engineer engagement.

The problem is that most creators do it the wrong way.

Responding to open-ended questions like "Why do you write online?" is hard. People scrolling on social media are usually not in the mood to take 2 minutes to type a thoughtful reply.

However, if you put some constraints like Jay did here...

"In 5 words or less" feels much more doable.

That constraint you set for your audience will likely get them to act on your question.
